Projects — Silk Supply

The infrastructure that makes everything possible

A managed spider farm, a controlled fibre-production process, and a supply model built to serve both research-grade and commercial demand.

The Problem & The Solution

Why spider silk stayed a legend — until now

Spider silk has been known as a wonder material for decades. Commercialisation stalled on a single, stubborn fact: spiders are territorial and cannibalistic, which makes conventional farming — housing them together like silkworms — impossible.

Our farm solves it. Carefully managed individual housing, controlled environments, and optimised silk-extraction protocols produce fibre at a scale sufficient for both research and initial commercial applications. This is genuinely novel — and we build it with pride.

The Farm

Scale, care, and deliberateness

The species

Orb-weavers of the Nephila family, prized for the exceptional strength and lustre of their dragline silk.

Housing & environment

Individually housed in climate-controlled conditions that respect their solitary nature and keep each spider healthy.

Extraction & quality control

Gentle, controlled silking protocols with fibre graded and logged at the point of harvest for full traceability.

The Supply Model

One fibre, two specifications

From the farm, raw fibre is reeled and twisted, then routed down one of two processing paths — because medical and textile applications demand very different specifications, and the production process adapts accordingly.

Path A

Medical grade

Reeling → twisting → sterilisation → scaffold or conduit fabrication. Held to medical-device specifications with full lot traceability.

Path B

Textile grade

Reeling → twisting → textile treatment → weaving or construction. Tuned for hand, sheen, and drape at couture standard.

Partnership & Licensing
